We are working with a local authority based in Warrington to find a Legacy and Archive Officer on an interim basis.

We are seeking a dedicated Legacy and Archive Officer to provide essential support to the Home Office and other organisations with legacy and archive-related tasks. This role involves leading internal and inter-agency teams, delivering information management audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and protocols.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Search and retrieve data from databases such as HOLMES, Relativity, and Lextranet.
  • Record and evaluate information.
  • Ensure the safe storage and handling of material and exhibits, including their retention, return, or destruction where appropriate.
  • Review document and exhibit continuity to maintain material integrity.
  • Conduct information risk assessments and participate in strategic audit planning.
  • Provide advice on archiving protocols and manage a diverse audit, appeal, compliance, and advisory workload.
  • Liaise regarding information handling and advise on data collection, retention, use, disclosure, and disposal procedures.
  • -Develop and implement information and records management policies and audit compliance.
  • Manage Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Subject Access Request (SAR) applications.
  • Engage in environmental scanning to assess developments that may impact the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC, or relevant experience in a related field.
  • Certifications such as ISEB in Data Protection and FOIA are desirable.
  • Extensive experience with computer systems and standard software packages, including a strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing procedures, reports, and working practices.
  • Experience in audit processes and partnership working is highly desirable.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
