Job description: We have a fantastic opportunity to join a Local Authority in the North as a Locum Education lawyer. The client is looking for someone to start on a remote, full-time basis for an ongoing period. The assignment will last at least three months, with the view that it will be longer term.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with all aspects of appeals to the SEND Tribunal, which includes drafting responses to appeals, instructing expert witnesses and conducting advocacy
  • Advising senior officers and councillors on complex Education Law matters
  • Providing legal advice to the local authority and schools on Education Law matters such as school admissions and appeals, exclusions and reviews
  • Receiving expert advice and carrying out discussions with witnesses and parents/ guardians

Hourly rate: £60ph Umbrella

Recent Education or SEN experience is essential, and experience in Adult Social Care would be beneficial but not essential as they need candidates that can hit the ground running. Candidates must have worked in a Local Authority.
