About The Client:

Our client is a leading provider of nationwide two-person and one-person assisted "White Glove" home delivery services in the UK. They are currently seeking an experienced Depot Manager to join their team and oversee operations at one of their key distribution centres.

Job Overview:

In this hands-on leadership role, you will be fully responsible for managing depot operations, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and outstanding service delivery. You will play a key role in maintaining our Customer First approach by managing resources, improving operational performance, and developing a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day depot operations, ensuring service levels and cost targets are met.
  • Cost & Budget Control: Assist the Operations Director in managing the depot budget, optimizing productivity, and controlling labor costs, overtime, and agency usage.
  • Recruitment & Team Management: Lead depot recruitment efforts in line with company standards, ensuring the right talent is onboarded.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce company safety policies, including risk assessments, accident investigations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performance Management: Conduct appraisals, manage performance, and drive employee development to ensure high levels of engagement and productivity.
  • Communication & Coordination: Work closely with Day/Night Shift Management, Customer Services, Transport, Compliance, and the Sales Team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Asset & Security Management: Maintain company security processes, safeguarding all assets and resources.
  • Supplier & Stakeholder Relations: Liaise effectively with third-party suppliers and service providers where necessary.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a hands-on leader with strong operational management experience. You will have the ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams while maintaining a results-driven approach. Key attributes include:

  • Proven experience in depot, logistics, or operations management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations.
