Risktec is looking to recruit consultants experienced in quantitative risk and safety studies for oil, gas, chemical and clean energy facilities.

Risktec has a number of exciting opportunities across the company; in particular we are looking for experienced risk and safety consultants to be based in our Warrington head office or London office to support growing client demand in the following sectors:
- Oil and gas (offshore and onshore)
- Carbon capture and storage
- Chemical manufacturing, handling and storage
- Hydrogen generation and distribution
- Onshore and offshore wind energy
The successful candidate will be part of an energetic, expanding team, and will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment.
This permanent position is based at either our Warrington head office or our London office, but our other office locations in the UK will also be considered. The role may involve travel to UK and worldwide locations to meet project requirements.
Key Skills
Applicants should have a relevant science or engineering degree, and possess strong analytical thinking, numerical skills, and written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years (Senior grade) or 10 years (Principal grade) of proven, relevant experience. Candidates are not expected to have experience in all fields, but broad experience or a specialism is expected in the following:
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation, ideally in the context of technical safety or related fields
- Experience in the use of software packages such as FLACS-CFD, KFX, ANSYS Fluent / CFX or FDS to analyse fluid flow, dispersion, explosion, and fire dynamics
- Fire, explosion and toxic gas consequence and physical effects modelling using specialist software (e.g. PHAST, FRED)
- QRA and other technical safety studies (e.g. BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, Facility Siting Studies) using commercial software (e.g. SAFETI, SHEPHERD)
- Fire and Gas Mapping
- Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) studies
- Advanced use of Excel, including data manipulation, advanced formulas and VBA
- Development of bespoke modelling utilities using VBA / Python / C#
- ALARP demonstration
- Project planning and management
- Writing proposals and coordinating bids
- Handling large-scale CFD projects using HPC and cloud computing
- Use of reliability software packages such as Reliability Workbench for Fault Tree Analysis and Availability Workbench for RAM
- COMAH Safety Report and Safety Case development
- Supporting or facilitating hazard identification workshops such as HAZOP, LOPA and/or HAZID
- Barrier management and bowtie analysis
- DSEAR Risk Assessment and Hazardous Areas Classification
