Our client is a well-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality retail fit-out projects across the UK. Specialising in fast-paced, high-volume projects within the food retail sector, they work with blue-chip clients and pride themselves on maintaining a strong commercial team. Due to internal progression, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join their dynamic team in Warrington.

Job Description:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing and delivering retail fit-out projects. You will work across a range of fast-track projects, primarily within the food retail sector, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will work closely with the commercial team, liaising with clients and subcontractors, and may take on some estimating duties as required.

The position offers excellent opportunities for career progression within the next year, as well as the chance to work with a collaborative and supportive team that ranges from junior to intermediate level surveyors.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and final accounts.

Provide accurate and timely reports on project costs, ensuring financial control.

Measure and value work on site, ensuring it is in accordance with contract specifications.

Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve any cost-related issues.

Manage the procurement process for subcontractors and materials.

Ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget, with a focus on value engineering where applicable.

Work fluidly across a range of projects and clients, not being tied down to a single client or job.

Take on estimating duties as required, providing accurate cost forecasts and assessments.

Support junior and intermediate surveyors within the commercial team.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes within the commercial team.

Ideal Candidate:

A minimum of 5-6 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally with retail fit-out or fast-track project experience.

Experience working within the food retail sector is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of contract law and construction regulations.

Ability to manage costs, procurement, and final accounts effectively.

Comfortable with estimating duties and confident in providing cost assessments and forecasts.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.

A degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification) is preferred, but not essential.
