Senior Quantity Surveyor - Housing Groundworks - Freelance
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of groundworks projects for major housebuilders. You will play a key role in ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and financial performance, working closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the commercial management of multiple housing groundworks projects.
- Prepare, review, and manage cost estimates, budgets, and valuations.
- Handle subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract management.
- Conduct regular cost analysis and reporting, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.
- Assess and manage risk, resolving any contractual disputes.
- Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget and on time.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the housing groundworks or civil engineering sector.
- Strong understanding of groundwork packages, including roads, drainage, and infrastructure works.
- Excellent knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant degree (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK driving license.
