Senior Quantity Surveyor

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking for a step-up? A leading industrial engineering company is seeking a highly skilled and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial aspects of multiple frameworks and projects across the Technology sector.
This Senior Quantity Surveyor role is integral to ensuring that projects meet or exceed the expected contract margins while delivering high-quality, efficient service. You will be the key commercial point of contact between the Commercial Manager and project teams, and you will lead and mentor a team of three apprentice Quantity Surveyors.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and agreement of Interim Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts, Subcontract Payment Certificates, and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Ensure strict adherence to all contractual notices and the preparation of Compensation Event Quotations, maintaining full compliance with contract terms.
- Monitor and control subcontract costs, labour allocation, and project expenditures to ensure alignment with contract margins. Regularly update and manage internal project databases to track costs (labour, materials, plant, etc.).
- Implement effective risk management techniques and produce detailed and substantiated reports on CVRs, Cash Flow, WIP, Threats, and Opportunities. Review contracts and negotiate terms in line with company policies.
- You will be responsible for supporting the commercial activities of up to 350 projects ranging in size from £1K to £5M across the Midlands and South regions.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager, Key Account Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery and resolve any commercial issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to three apprentice Quantity Surveyors, supporting their professional development and growth.
- Ensure procurement of materials aligns with project budgets and tender allowances to maintain cost control.
Skills and Qualifications: Senior Quantity Surveyor
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Recent experience in a similar role, preferably within the technology, construction, or engineering sectors.
- Active pursuit or achievement of MRICS membership is desirable.
- Strong understanding of cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project.
- Experience with operational management systems (e.g., ERP) is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
