About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Fire Safety Engineer to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington to support the development and delivery of the nuclear safety case for the SNM FS project.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery & Development of fire safety strategies for new build nuclear facilities working alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership, mentoring and development to junior fire safety engineers

Here's What You'll Need:

  • A degree in engineering or suitable scientific subject. Chartered, or working towards chartership status with the IFE
  • Experience of nuclear fire safety assessment, principally nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  • Experience of application and use of relevant codes (e.g. BS 9999 and BS 9990).
  • Understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions working with regulators e.g. ONR or HSE.
  • Experience in scoping and interpreting the results of fire modelling (CFAST or similar). Experience in developing design solutions encompassing evacuation plans, detection, suppression, alarms, compartmentalisation, and firefighting access/facilities in accordance with industry best practice, policies and procedures whilst considering operational experience and lessons learnt to ensure a robust, low cost, high-quality design.
  • Experience in preparing and coordinating assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions.
  • Experience in assisting nuclear safety case assurance though project, programme and corporate requirements.
  • Demonstrable ability to write clearly and present complex arguments in a well-structured manner, suitable for a varied audience.
