Your new companyWe are currently recruiting a housing support worker to work for a large housing association working within the community, based in Warrington Town Centre. This role is providing housing related support and advice to vulnerable people, including rough sleepers, those living in temporary accommodation within the privately rented sector and bed and breakfast or hotel accommodation. Your new roleThis role is full-time Monday-Friday, working from 9-5pm. You will be office based as you must be available for vulnerable clients who will drop in. You will be there to enable them to source and secure appropriate accommodation and for them to be able to live independently in a community setting. You will also be on hand to support with any advice and guidance in regard to benefits and other help that might be available. There will be occasions due to staff illness or holidays you will be required to cover members of the outreach team and complete morning walk rounds in the town centre. What you'll need to succeedIt is essential you have knowledge of housing benefits and other welfare benefits, including Universal Credit. Knowledge / understanding of housing related support and customer outcomes is key and also landlord and tenant issues. Excellent written, verbal communication, numeracy and literacy skills and knowledge / ability to work with vulnerable people. The ability to prioritise and manage your workload, and you must be a confident user of Microsoft packages (Word/ Excel/ Outlook/Teams). The ability to undertake assessments and develop support plans with customers and the ability to sustain a professional relationship with customers and colleagues adhering to professional boundaries. You will require GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).Ideally, you will hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as you will be required to go out and visit clients in their accommodation.
