About the Role:

A Senior Frontend Software Developer is an experienced professional who can oversee aspects of software development projects, write clean and efficient code, and provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to more junior engineers, serving as a role model for best practices. They are responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of the software solutions they develop and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

A Senior Frontend Software Developer develops high-quality software, identifies and executes tasks in the software development lifecycle, reviews and debugs code, and collaborates with internal and external teams.

About you:

Technical Responsibilities & Skills

Senior Frontend Software Developers are expected to have in-depth knowledge and background in coding, and they must have the ability to identify and resolve technical issues and roadblocks in the development cycle. They must have strong knowledge in at least one technical area or demonstrate proficiency in multiple areas. They must ensure that the quality of work meets the technical requirements and coding conventions set by the Lead and Principal Software Engineers. They should stay up to date with the latest software development trends and practices.
Alongside programming skills, Senior Frontend Software Developers must also be adept at using software development tools and methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, GitHub, and other productivity tools.

Training and Mentorship

Senior Frontend Software Developers serve as mentors for Mid and Junior level engineers, helping them maximise their potential. They set sound development standards through methods like pair programming and code reviews.

Communication

Strong communication skills are critical. Senior Frontend Software Developers must be able to deliver information accurately and clearly, translating complex requirements into simple and precise language. They should have the confidence to contribute to technical discussions and collaborate with the wider team.

Taking Responsibility

Senior Frontend Software Developers are responsible for the quality of their own work and must ensure thorough testing before passing their work for review. They should take a holistic view, ensuring their work aligns with the goals of the wider team to avoid compatibility issues. Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in React (v16.8+) using hooks and function components.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript for scalable, type-safe JavaScript development.
  • Proficiency in frontend development with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Next.js for server-side rendering.
  • Familiarity with Material UI (MUI) for building responsive user interfaces.
  • Experience with Node.js for server-side JavaScript.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes for container orchestration and Helm Charts for deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker for containerisation.
  • Familiarity with .NET backend technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience in testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or @testing-library/react.
  • Proven experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Rollup.js, Webpack, or Babel.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks and solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well in both individual and team settings.
  • Mentorship experience, providing guidance and fostering the development of junior engineers.
