Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted-rated "Good" specialist SEND school in Warrington that supports pupils from years 7 - 11 with behavioural needs. We are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time (8:30am - 3:30pm) contract with an immediate start available. This school is easily accessible via public transport.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an exceptionally welcoming and supportive team of educational professionals. You will be supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis across years 7 - 11 on a required basis, all of whom have behavioural requirements such as SEMH, ADHD, ADD and trauma. You will take a pupil-centred approach to their learning, tailoring your approach to best suit individual attainment needs, emotional needs, and to build strong constructive relationships. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and implement an array of positive behaviour strategies to retain focus and engagement during core and vocational lessons. In the event that behaviours escalate, you will ensure that this is done so in a safe environment by removing the pupil from a triggering/upsetting environment and giving them time to calm down/reflect before reengaging.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting within a classroom or residential environment within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience supporting behavioural needs that include SEMH, trauma, ADD and/or ADHD
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
