In this vital role, you will support children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) by brokering independent specialist educational placements that meet their unique needs.Working closely with key stakeholders, including commissioning, educational, and social care teams, as well as market providers, you will ensure placements are compliant with the SEND Code of Practice, provide good value for money, and promote positive outcomes for children and young people.Key Responsibilities
  • Broker independent specialist educational placements in line with framework agreements and spot purchase arrangements.
  • Negotiate placement costs and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Gather and analyse data on SEND referrals, ensuring placements are of high quality and align with local and national benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with independent specialist providers and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in SEND High Needs Panels and other key meetings to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Ensure effective communication and record-keeping to support seamless casework.
  • Support contract management and the performance monitoring of providers.
About You
  • A degree or equivalent experience in SEND, education, procurement, or a related field.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret data effectively.
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across teams and sectors.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the Education Health and Care Plan process is desirable.
