Head of Workforce ServicesLocation: Onsite 2 days per week (with occasional additional onsite days as needed)

Rate: £650-£750p/d Umbrella Inside IR35

Duration: 6 months initially

Our client is seeking a proactive and analytical leader ready to take on a pivotal role within a dynamic council environment.

They need a Head of Workforce Services to spearhead the delivery of their people strategy, enhance workforce services, and lead key projects, including a council restructure.You will need to be a skilled professional with strong analytical and strategic abilities who thrives on simplifying processes, engaging stakeholders, and creating innovative workforce solutions.

Role Overview:

  • Develop and implement strategies across recruitment, employee relations, organisational wellbeing, health and safety, payroll, and more
  • Ensure effective delivery of services, including onboarding, apprenticeships, employee relations, and HR systems management
  • Lead the procurement and management of service-related contracts
  • Drive the traded growth strategy and monitor the performance of people outcomes
  • Act as the operational HROD professional lead for the authority
  • Lead a team of 3 direct reports, with oversight of 140–150 reports across the service
  • Drive workforce strategies and deliver outstanding customer-centric services

Requirements:

  • FCIPD with significant experience at working at a senior level in a local authority of similar setting
  • Strong leadership and management skills and experience of matrix management
  • Experience of developing and implementing complex workforce transformation programmes and strategies
  • Evidence of designing and delivering innovative people solutions in order to resolve business issues
  • Significant experience of managing relationships with internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of HR Legislation and policy
  • Evidence of experience of leading successful change programme
  • Significant experience of commissioning, procurement and contract management
