The Light Current Control C Cyber Asset Lifecycle team are seeking an Asset Lifecycle Engineer to support full time on the Hardened Compute Platform and OT Remote Back Up projects. The resource will not work directly for the project, but will act as the SME advisor, supporting the projects on behalf of the Control C Cyber Asset Lifecycle team.


Hardened Compute Platform:


o Support the build and deployment of hosts using virtualisation (hypervisors). Deployment will leverage tools such as Kickstart and Ansible for automation and Satellite for updates, so familiarity of these tools is necessary.
o Support the build of virtual machines to contain applications used to perform operational activities (SCADA HMI/Gateway).
o Review designs and key documentation of the proposed architecture to ensure implementation of best practice, considering key aspects such as cyber security and asset management.
o Support the HCP Project team during the internal and external testing phases, validating the cyber security design whilst ensuring Control System functionality and adherence to National Grid procedures and requirements.

OT Remote Back Up:

o Support the build and deployment of OT Remote Back Up, aiming to centralise the management of the OT Back Ups.
o Deployment will leverage tools such as Kickstart and Ansible for automation and Satellite for updates, so familiarity of these tools is necessary.
o File sync solution to orchestrate recovery files across multiple locations and enable processing at central location.
o Review designs and key project documentation, considering key aspects such as cyber security and asset management.

o Support the RBU Project team during the internal and external testing phases, validating the cyber security design whilst ensuring Control System functionality and adherence to National Grid procedures and requirements.


Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management
* Experience communicating issues associated with areas of expertise in a clear and concise manner both verbally C in writing
* Comfortable breaking new ground and changing the way the business makes decisions


Technical or Specialist:


* Technical understanding of the OT assets and systems used within National Grid Electricity Transmission substations, in particular protection and control
systems. Increased knowledge in the area of associated hardware and software architectures and networking.
* Understanding and practical experience working with virtualisation of substation servers.
* Familiarity with operational practices and processes used to support and manage OT assets.
* Significant experience of requirements in the area of operational technology cyber security associated with PCC schemes within the electrical utilities sphere.
* Understanding of Electricity industry operations and procedures and a working knowledge of safety rules and the commissioning process.
* Understanding of asset management principles, including risk management, decision making, planning, asset lifecycle and asset data/information.
* Familiarity with international standards related to cyber security including IEC62443 and IEC62351
* Ideally have experience working with Access Control technologies such as RBAC, Active Directory etc.
