The Production Manager is responsible for the long-term vision and execution of the company's laboratory operation, warehousing, logistics and health & safety. Your direct reports will be the Deputy Production Manager, Production Operatives, Warehouse Manager, H&S Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment within production, that the team are trained correctly, and H&S processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure business KPIs are set across production, delivery and quality. Reporting back to the Management Team on status, issues, and corrections
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) within production, ensuring people are trained to the required levels.
  • Review and maximise logistics capability, in terms of both cost and quality of services used
  • Champion and teach productivity improvements and techniques while identifying tools to drive operational activities.
  • Drive activities to reduce 'waste' and 'nonvalue added activities'
  • Resource planning and scheduling. Forecast incoming orders, material usage and last order dates capabilities in and out of season
  • Ensure effective use of warehouse management systems. Maintain supply of materials to production with no stock outs.
  • Ensure all H&S material and internal training is up to date and implemented across the business. Ensure any changes to technologies are documented and new training provided with respect to H&S
  • Undertake leadership activities to support your team, including regular performance reviews

General Duties

  • The Production Manager is responsible for other such duties as specified by the Management team and Directors to enable the Company to fulfil its orders and obligations.
  • Adherence to Company Rules and Regulations, including Health and Safety, as outlined in the Company Handbook and Health & Safety Manual.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all knowledge and information appertaining to the Company, its customers and its employees.

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in production, engineering or supply chain subject.
  • Track record of achieving/exceeding targets in Quality, Cost Management and Delivery.
  • Experience of managing teams effectively in a FMCG environment
  • Experience of SAP (or equivalent) and warehouse management systems
  • Experience of managing H&S activities in a production environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to analyse data to inform decision making.
  • Track record of making positive improvements in productivity and performance.
  • Organised, analytical problem solver with excellent Microsoft office skills.

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Lean Manufacturing process experience ie six sigma
  • IBM Cognos analytics or similar
  • Interest in photography
