Spirehouse are currently recruiting for a Principal Temporary Accommodation Officer on behalf of a local authority in Warwickshire.
The Opportunity
This is a contracted role at 6 months, however there shall be an opportunity at the three month mark to potentially apply for a permanent role with the Local Authority. The purpose of this post is to supervise the Temporary Accommodation Team and to deliver a customer focused, cost effective and professional Temporary Accommodation service to meet the Councils housing duties.
Duties:
- Provide day-to-day supervision of the temporary accommodation team including one - to- ones, team meetings and ensuring comprehensive high-quality service is delivered
- Ensure that Council-owned temporary homeless accommodation is managed in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures including regular support visits, inspections and risk and accurate records are kept
- Ensure that the use of hotel & bed & breakfast accommodation is kept to a minimum
- Develop the approach to increasing access to the private rented sector for use as temporary accommodation and the prevention of homelessness.
- Ensure sound financial management of budgets, ensuring timely payments for accommodation and other services required.
- Provide comprehensive advice and support service is provided to customers in temporary accommodation to enable them to move to more settled accommodation.

- 37 hours per working week
- Monday - Friday
- £19 - £23 per hour via Umbrella
- Immediate start
- 6 months initial assignment
Requirements:
- Previous experience in managing a small team
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within a homeless related housing service
- Extensive experience around housing legislation particularly Temporary Accommodation
- Full UK drivers licence and access to a vehicle
