Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 support professional to work closely with a child in Reception who requires targeted assistance with communication, interaction, and emotional regulation. This is a long-term position at a welcoming and inclusive school in Warwick, with the possibility of becoming permanent if the placement proves successful. It’s an exciting opportunity to make a profound difference in a young child’s educational and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to the unique needs of a child with Autism and SEMH in a Reception class.
  • Assist in delivering activities and interventions aimed at promoting communication, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
  • Adapt to the child’s individual learning style, using creative and nurturing approaches to enhance their engagement and progress.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behavior.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages the child’s confidence and independence.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure the child’s needs are met and their development is regularly monitored.
  • Be open to feedback and willing to embrace the school’s ethos and collaborative approach to learning.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents to ensure a cohesive support plan for the child.
  • Maintain detailed records of the child’s progress, including any adjustments made to meet their evolving needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs (Autism, Communication and Interaction, SEMH).
  • Willingness to embrace feedback and support the school's inclusive, nurturing approach.
  • Level 2 (or higher) Teaching Assistant qualification or equalivalent
