An Early Years Teaching Assistant is needed for a lovely primary school in the Washington area of Sunderland.  This EYFS Teaching Assistant position is to start after the October 2024 half term break, initially on a week to week basis but for the right candidate this role has the potential to go permanent.

There are a range of different SEND needs within the early years unit ranging from children who have non-verbal communication, some children with Autism and some with ADHD. This position would require someone with at least a level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification. Experience in supporting children with any of the above needs would be essential  and a willingness to learn and engage with SEN children is the most important quality that the school are looking for. The school require staff that are flexible and willing to learn from experienced staff at the school.

The ideal EYFS Teaching Assistant candidate would:

  • Have a passion for supporting the teaching of Early Years
  • Have excellent subject knowledge
  • Be able to organise themselves
  • Be able to support lessons to early years children
  • Possess at least a Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • Has knowledge of supporting the teaching of Read Write Inc phonics
  • Have experience working with SEND children.

In addition, you must:

• Provide two referees we can contact

• Have a DBS form or be prepared to obtain one
