Job Summary

Alecto Recruitment seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to join a family-run haulage and transport company based in Washington, Tyne & Wear. The ideal candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing the fleet of HGVs, ensuring they meet safety standards, legal requirements, and operational efficiency.

We are seeking a reliable HGV Fitter, who has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to join a team of experienced Commercial Technicians.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform inspections, servicing routines, and repairs on vehicles.
  • Diagnose and identify faults across a wide range of vehicles.
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections to the highest standards.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they are ready for testing.
  • Interpret diagnostic data and use electrical wiring diagrams to assess system functionality.
  • Test the operation of repaired and newly fitted components.
  • Order and source vehicle parts, draft emails, create documents, and perform web-based searches as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have at least class 1 licence
  • At least 2 years experience working on HGV or PSV
  • NVQ or equivalent preferred
