Accounts Assistant (Assistant Accountant)

8.30 - 5.00 Monday - Thursday 8.30 - 1.00 Friday (Possible Hybrid Options after initial probation)

My client is seeking a new Accounts Assistant (Assistant Accountant) who will support the smooth running of the Finance department. Ensuring daily reconciliations of banking and internal systems, supporting the management of the purchase/sales ledgers and assisting with financial reporting and data managementThis is a genuine opportunity to add real value and impact to the community. my client appreciates commercially progressive individuals who can drive ideas to fruition individually and as part of the wider team. You will add impact by;

  • Daily posting of bank transactions
  • Reconciliation of bank account and other balance sheet accounts
  • Maintaining debtor’s control, deal with invoice and payment queries and to chase overdue payments.
  • Assisting with management of purchase and sales ledgers ensuring accurate and timely recording and processing of information
  • Assisting with creating and maintaining supplier account details and reconciliation of supplier statements as required
  • Processing general ledger, fixed assets and cash book transactions (Weekly reporting of store petty cash, allocation of petty cash and credit cards as and when required
  • Supporting month end procedures ensuring timely completion of tasks to facilitate accurate reporting

Candidates should possess;

  • Experience of working in an Accounts Assistant role is essential
  • Solid experience of using MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience of using in-house / accounts software (ideally insight123 or Sage 50 Accounts) is essential
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to plan, anticipate bottlenecks in the workflow and manage conflicting demands and priorities
  • Excellent spreadsheet and IT skills
