Warehouse Supervisor

Menzies Distribution has an excellent opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team based in Portsmouth.

Oversee the unloading, packing, and safe handling of products in the warehouse, ensuring customer requirements are met and a safe working environment is maintained in compliance with health and safety regulations. Manage staff, delivery vehicle departures, returns processing, and KPIs.

THE DETAILS:

  • Shift Pattern: Thursday - Monday 
  • Hours: 05:00am - 14:00pm
  • Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (Depending on experience)
  • Location: Unit 1, Solent 27, Walton Road, Portsmouth, PO6 1SX

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Management:

  • Plan staffing needs, manage rotas, and conduct inductions and training.
  • Address conduct issues and manage absence and lateness.
  • Handle disciplinary procedures, return-to-work interviews, and payroll paperwork.
  • Health & Safety:

  • Ensure staff complete necessary safety training and maintain clean, safe work areas.
  • Identify any risk assessments and training needs.
  • Process:

  • Drive productivity and cost reductions based on KPIs.
  • Motivate the team to meet deadlines, quality standards, and productivity targets.
  • Ensure a tidy and safe working environment.
  • Communication:

  • Conduct team briefings and engage with management on staff matters.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, and health and safety information effectively.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management with the ability to meet operational objectives.
  • Experience with shift management and rota planning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and in-house programs (SAP/Power BI knowledge is a plus).
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts and teams in a 7-day operation.
  • Knowledge of warehouse health and safety practices.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Full UK driving Licence Beneficial but not essential (No more than 6 points)
  • FLT / PPT licence beneficial but not essential
  • No previous disqualifications NI, DD or DR
  • Hardworking, positive and a flexible attitude to work
  • Knowledge of all Transport Legislation
  • Good PC skills
