Job Title: CAD Technician

Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-drivenCAD Technicianto join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and plans, supporting engineers and designers across a range of civil, structural, or infrastructure projects. They will play a critical role in shaping the foundational designs for projects, ensuring they meet technical standards and align with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Drawing Production: Produce high-quality 2D and 3D technical drawings and models for civil engineering, drainage, or structural projects using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit.
  • Concept to Detailed Design: Translate engineers' and designers' concepts into accurate technical plans, layouts, and schematics suitable for construction and client review.
  • BIM Integration: Work with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and tools to ensure seamless integration of drawn elements into larger design frameworks.
  • Drawing Revisions: Update and revise technical drawings to reflect design changes, feedback from engineers, or site-based adjustments.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards, codes, and project specifications, maintaining consistency across all outputs.
  • Coordination with Teams: Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to align drawings with project objectives.
  • File Management: Maintain and organize project drawing files, ensuring all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible for team members.
  • Design Problem-Solving: Assist in resolving design discrepancies and provide input on optimizing designs for efficiency and feasibility.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure all drawings are clear, accurate, and free from errors before project submission.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Educational Background: Diploma, certification, or degree in CAD, drafting, engineering design, or a related field.
  • Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with Revit and BIM platforms is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in CAD design for engineering or infrastructure projects (civil, drainage, or structural experience preferred).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of engineering design principles, drawing standards, and construction workflows.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in all design outputs and a meticulous approach to quality assurance.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and ability to meet tight deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders to clarify design intent and requirements.

Desirable Competencies:

  • Familiarity with large-scale infrastructure projects, including highways, rail, drainage, or utilities.
  • Knowledge of GIS software or mapping tools is a plus.
