We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our Finance team in Leavesden to support the Group Tax Manager (GTM) by managing the governance and compliance requirements for VAT and indirect tax and be involved in other tax projects within the business

What you'll do:

  • Ensure governance and process requirements are met within the VAT function for Senior Accounting Officer and Criminal Finance Act purposes
  • Provide VAT advice on a wide range of VAT issues including but not limited to Domestic Reverse Charge, Joint Ventures
  • Manage the compliance process for the group VAT returns, including preparing the group VAT return and reviewing work of finance teams within operating units
  • Manage the relationships with operating units, external advisers, auditors and HMRC in relation to VAT
  • Provide VAT training to colleagues in finance, commercial and procurement
  • Responsible for VAT balance sheet reconciliations
  • Work with the GTM on a selection of tax related projects with a focus on those that deliver savings within the business

What you'll bring to the role:

  • VAT trained by working towards CTA qualification or at least 3 years in industry
  • Must have sound accounting experience and understanding / managing ERP related systems
  • Excellent organiser and communicator
  • Excellent excel and analytical skills
  • Willing to engage with tax technologies
