Job Title: Welfare Officer / School Nurse

Purpose:
  • Promote and manage student health and welfare.
  • Provide day-to-day First Aid support.
  • Contribute to the school’s ethos and aims.
Key Responsibilities:

Welfare and First Aid:

  • Oversee students' physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
  • Provide First Aid and manage medical emergencies.
  • Develop and review healthcare plans and welfare-related policies.
  • Support students with medical needs and emotional wellbeing.
  • Coordinate health immunization programs and provide trip-related medical support.
  • Monitor and restock First Aid kits.
  • Train staff in First Aid and manage training for designated First Aiders.
  • Maintain the First Aid room to meet hygiene and functional standards.

Communication and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of medical incidents and communications.
  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external health services.
  • Update student medical records and manage medical supplies.
  • Identify and address welfare trends in collaboration with the Inclusion Team.

Training and Additional Duties:

  • Undertake relevant training, including Child Protection.
  • Support pandemic response and other ad hoc welfare duties as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.

Other:

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies.
  • Contribute to equal opportunities and inclusive practices within the school.
