Purpose of Job Role

Reporting to the Head Chef, the role of Sous Chef is vital to the success of the business. Every guest must be provided with a quality experience to maintain and develop a consistent level of hospitality, the Sous Chef achieves this through clear direction to their kitchen team, to produce food in a timely and according to spec.

Key Responsibilities

  • To recognise the importance of a first impression and represent Topgolf in a friendly and professional manner in every interaction.
  • To take ownership for engagement all associates, contributing to and assisting with the implementation of initiatives that will boost engagement levels.
  • To promote and educate the importance of completing the engagement survey to ensure everyones opinion is heard.
  • To ensure all kitchen associates are directed clearly and effectively in their duties of delivering food to our guests
  • To ensure all associates follow Topgolf food safety policies at all times. Ensuring that a high level of cleanliness is enforced.
  • Assist the Head Chef to ensure that all Topgolf health & safety documentation is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required
  • Assist the Head Chef To ensure the production of all food is done so by associates following Topgolf specification sheets and guidelines at all times
  • To ensure each guests individual and specific needs are met, knowledge of each dish and ingredients is essential. Understanding & ensuring allergy awareness is communicated effectively
  • Assist the Head Chef to ensure that food products are ordered correctly, maintaining correct holding stock. All food products are stored correctly and safely.
  • Ensure optimum staffing levels are achieved through accurate analysis of Rota ready scheduling and cost control
  • To ensure that all requests by the F&B Manager and Head Chef are actioned.
  • Assist the Head Chef in providing training and development to the team, be it through whole team meetings or training sessions, one to ones, personal development reviews etc.
  • To be attentive to the performance of Kitchen Associates on every shift and carry out on the spot coaching where appropriate
  • To assist the Head Chef in ensuring the kitchen team understand the specs, and create dishes (including any promotions and LTOs) that align with these.
  • To assist the Head Chef in ensuring the expeditor is trained thoroughly and present for all peak shifts.
  • To be present for all large events, ensuring food goes out on time and to the highest quality, all whilst ensuring this causes no or minimal disruptions to food orders from walk in visits.
  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing & complete weekly food stock ensuring that counts are accurate.
  • To assist the Head Chef in driving standards through GSS and improving and maintaining profitability.
  • To effectively & professionally communicate with guests, managers and fellow associates.
  • To take pride in personal appearance reflecting the Topgolf brand, ensuring correct uniform and name badge is worn on every shift
  • To take responsibility for own health, safety and wellbeing; and that of guests and other associates; ensuring compliance with Topgolfs Health and Safety policy, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Communicate any guest issues/behaviours that could potentially cause a Health and Safety issue for guests and/or associates.
  • To be responsible for own behaviour and acting in a manner that avoids and discourages any form of discrimination or harassment
  • To participate in training, performance development reviews and any other communication meetings required for your role and for helping to deliver excellent guest hospitality
  • To ensure full compliance with all Topgolf policies
  • To willingly carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role and Topgolf as an organisation
