Berry Recruitment are currently seeking a Sous Chef for our client based near Watford to work on weekends. There would be a potential for additional shifts.

Role Overview:

As a Sous Chef, you will be supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, from preparing and cooking high-volume dishes to supervising kitchen staff.

Pay rate: £14.50 per hour

Hours: Saturday (10am-10pm), Sunday (10am-7pm) - Potential for additional Tuesday and Friday shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
  • Prepare and cook high-volume dishes to the highest standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and ensure smooth service during peak times.
  • Contribute to menu planning and development with creative and seasonal ideas.
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in every dish that leaves the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a pub or similar high-volume cooking environment.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
  • A passion for cooking and a creative flair.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate
