Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line reactive response to critical heating and hot water plant, including gas pipework, outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Reset and enable critical plant after power outages or service interruptions, ensuring plant is safe and operational.
- Ensure company-issued tools are PAT tested, certificated, and logged with the office.
- Keep specialist meters certificated and compliant with current legislation and technical requirements.
- Estimate time and materials for repairs and assist in the creation of quotations alongside the Client Supervisor.
- Assist with local financial control on reactive and essential repairs.
- Monitor and book spares and materials for each job, ensuring financial control and adherence to timelines.
- Maintain site logbooks and Gas Safe records in partnership with the Client Supervisor.
- Coordinate reactive calls and service delivery, supporting the service desk.
- Review and understand risk assessments and method statements before works, ensuring full compliance with SSOW (Safe Systems of Work).
- Monitor and record plant information, escalating issues as necessary.
- Stay current on HVAC/Gas equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Support the Client Supervisor with budget management for job expenditures.
- Suggest improvements to engineering practices and plant performance, particularly in energy efficiency.
- Core Safety and Indirect Fired Appliances and Pipework (Commercial) or Core Safety and Boilers (Domestic) certification.
- City & Guilds or equivalent in Plumbing and Heating.
- Current ACS certification for Core Safety, Indirect Fired Appliances, and Pipework (Commercial) or Core Safety and Boilers (Domestic).
- Strong fault-finding skills on all forms of gas appliances and systems.
- Excellent knowledge of gas appliances, combustion systems, fans, controls, pumps, and pipework.
- Basic education in English and Maths.
- Experience in a similar role, particularly with gas plant systems.
- Knowledge of engineering techniques to British Standard or IGE equivalent.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with the office, engineers, and clients.
- Experience with financial and budgetary practices related to reactive repairs.
- Valid DBS check (within the last 12 months).
- Report directly to the Client Supervisor and Service Manager, taking full ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, administrators, and the Client Supervisor.
- This role does not carry direct budgetary responsibility.
