Our client is a progressive and growing Childrens Home Operator. They are looking to recruit a Registered Childrens Care Home Manager based in Watford.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Manager to lead our clients residential care service for children and young people with complex needs. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, and create a safe, nurturing environment for children with complex emotional and behavioural disorders, as well as learning difficulties. You will be responsible for managing staff, developing care plans, and maintaining high standards of care to help young people thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the children’s home, ensuring a well-organised, efficient, and safe environment for children with emotional, behavioural, and complex learning needs.
  • Compliance with Ofsted Regulations: Ensure that all activities within the home are in full compliance with Ofsted standards, national care standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Personalised Care Plans: Develop, implement, and regularly review individual care plans, specifically designed to address the emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties of the children in our care.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Lead, mentor, and support a team of care staff, ensuring they are skilled and motivated to provide the highest quality of care, particularly to children with complex needs.
  • Safeguarding and Child Protection: Lead safeguarding efforts and ensure that staff are fully trained and compliant with child protection procedures.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, their families, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to care.
  • Quality Assurance: Regularly monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements as needed to ensure the best outcomes for children.

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role within residential care for children, with specific experience in caring for children with emotional and behavioural disorders as well as complex learning difficulties.

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) - Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent
  • A "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted rating for your recent inspections is highly desirable

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and national care standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in managing the needs of children with emotional and behavioural disorders and complex learning difficulties.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, staff, and external professionals
  • Ability to manage complex cases and make informed decisions
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
