We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their dynamic team.

Job Description

As the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, subcontractors, and visitors on-site. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of health and safety policies to reflect changes in legislation and best practices.

Risk Assessment and Management

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for all site activities. Implement appropriate control measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitor and review risk assessments regularly to ensure their effectiveness.

Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all site personnel are adequately trained and informed about health and safety procedures. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and awareness in health and safety practices.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.

Site Inspections and Audits:

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety policies. Identify and address any potential health and safety issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions taken.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Provide expert advice and support on health and safety issues.
  • Foster positive relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on groundwork and builders' work packages.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
