Job Summary:

As a Healthcare Assistant at Aurum Care, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patients and healthcare team. You will provide essential care to patients under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals. Your dedication and empathy will contribute significantly to the comfort and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.

Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.

Support patients in maintaining personal hygiene and comfort.

Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.

Clinical Support:

Assist in preparing patients for medical procedures and examinations.

Collect samples for testing, such as blood, urine, or swabs, as directed.

Help with wound care, dressing changes, and administering medication under supervision.

A healthcare assistant is expected to maintain accurate patient records and documentation.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient needs and observations.

Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Environmental Management:

Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and well-organized.

Assist with the maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.

Personal Development:

Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities.

Attend mandatory training and professional development courses.

Stay updated with the latest healthcare practices and regulations.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is advantageous.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.

Physical and Emotional Requirements:

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and assisting patients alongside another healthcare assistant.

Resilience to cope with challenging situations and emotional demands of patient care.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
