Based in Watford, Hertfordshire our successful client is seeking a Group Payroll Manager on a permanent basis, working 5 days per week in the office.

This job would suit someone with at least 5 years' experience in a similar payroll position, ideally within the hospitality industry. The Payroll Manager will manage a team of 4, ensuring that the payroll departments run smoothly, efficiently, and accurately with up to 2,000+ employees across care homes, restaurants and hotels, with experience of UK payroll processing across multiple locations for both hourly paid and salaried staff.

The business is one of the UK's fastest growing hospitality groups with ambitions to grow the group event further, this would be an ideal time for someone ambitious to join the team.

The successful individual will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of successfully processing a monthly and weekly/biweekly payroll run for a similar sized organisation. This candidate will have demonstrable project management experience and can work effectively with external suppliers. Strong payroll legislation knowledge is required. Experience of managing teams in a similar role is desirable. Excellent Excel Skills including Vlookups and Pivot Tables is essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Can effectively juggle the responsibilities linked with managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Be the point of contact for any escalations within the payroll team.
  • Build relationships with the stakeholders involved in the project
  • Delivered the projects in line with the set deadlines
  • Review and sign off the fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
  • Run shadow payroll runs in preparation for the launch
  • Investigate and learn current payroll process and identify how this will be impacted by the proposed changes
  • Manual calculations of Tax and NIC if required.
  • Work closely with strategic leads and create project plans that outline the activity required to deliver the stated projects
