They are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to join our Buy-to-Let team.Role Overview:As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing and underwriting loan applications in line with our lending criteria and policies. You will work with a range of stakeholders, ensuring that all mortgage applications are processed efficiently, maintaining high standards of service excellence. Your role will include reviewing loan documentation, conducting checks on applicants and properties, managing a pipeline of applications, and liaising with introducers, valuers, and solicitors throughout the process.Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and assess loan documentation, including valuation reports, and request additional information from brokers as needed, raising any concerns.
  • Perform checks on applicants and properties to ensure their suitability for the requested loan.
  • Actively manage a pipeline of mortgage applications, following up on outstanding information from third parties, and providing regular updates to introducers.
  • Recommend and escalate cases to the Credit Committee for approval when required.
  • Communicate and collaborate with introducers, valuers, and solicitors.
  • Oversee each case from inception to completion, ensuring all necessary actions are completed on time.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot potential issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pass internal competency tests after induction.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
  • A solid understanding of FCA regulations.
  • Experience underwriting mortgage applications, specifically within the Buy-to-Let (BTL) market.
  • CeMAP qualification (desirable but not essential).
Personal Attributes:
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Articulate with strong communication skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
