Combustion Service Engineer

Large commercial site in North Watford.

Monday to Friday role, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

£49,000 with no call-out rota.

Role Overview

You will deliver planned maintenance, reactive works, and remedial tasks to ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line response to heating and hot water plant issues, including gas pipework.
  • Reset and restore plant operations following power outages, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Maintain and ensure tools and specialist meters meet industry compliance standards.
  • Estimate time and materials, assist in financial control, and support timelines for reactive and planned works.
  • Oversee site logbooks, Gas Safe records, and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Conduct risk assessments, understand SSOW, and deliver work aligned with regulations and client expectations.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance plant performance and energy efficiency.
Competencies
  • Qualifications: Certified Gas Engineer with a strong understanding of electrical services.
  • Experience: Proficient in PPM, reactive repairs, gas testing, and purging per IGE regulations and British Standards.
  • Technical Skills: Able to fault-find, read circuit diagrams, and perform corrective repairs without supervision.
  • Risk Management: Skilled in completing risk assessments, method statements, and ensuring compliance with critical systems KPIs.
