Ward/Dept: Blood Sciences: Specimen Reception

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Mon to Friday - 11:30 till 20:00

Pay Rates - Day: £13.07 per hour

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated lab assistant to work in their Pathology Reception providing support to the Blood Sciences laboratory across their laboratory sites at either Hemel Hempstead Hospital or Watford General Hospital.

Responsibilities of this job role

If you are successful in your application to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on the responsibilities outlined below - as well as those not included here, call today to discuss further:

  • To receive specimens, enter patient and test details in to the Pathology computer system, Prepare specimens for the Chemical Pathology and Haematology Laboratories and for sending to other laboratories.
  • Work closely with registered biomedical scientist staff, to observe and implement standard operating procedures, to liaise with clinical and nursing staff when required.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

Laboratory experience and keyboard skills required

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
