Main duties of the job
The role involves providing clinical pharmacy services to ensure high-quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care for Haematology and Oncology patients. Key duties include performing medicines reconciliation, offering patient counselling, and providing expert advice to doctors and nurses on medication management. You will also be responsible for screening chemotherapy prescriptions, drug charts, and TTAs, making clinical interventions as needed to improve patient outcomes, and training staff to enhance their understanding of pharmaceutical care.

Job description
- The service includes the provision of chemotherapy (aseptics) and other aseptically prepared products (e.g. monoclonal antibodies)
- To provide a clinical service to the designated Haematology/Oncology ward and the Cancer unit
- Day-to-day operations of the Technical Services to ensure all activities comply with current clinical, GCP, GMP and NHSQA guidelines.
- Ensuring compliance with current directives, legislation, external audits, current good manufacturing practice and health and safety.
- To perform and document checks and release of manufactured and dispensed products under the conditions of the MHRA Manufacturers (specials) Licence.
- To provide information on stability, formulation, storage and calculations of injectable medicines.
- Experience working as an Oncology/Technical Pharmacist. Familiar with chemotherapy regimen and experience providing pharmaceutical care to cancer patients.
- Experience using ChemoCare - electronic Chemotherapy Prescribing system
Person Specification & Qualifications
- Masters Degree MPharm (or equivalent).
- Competency assessed and examined professional registration with the GPhC.
- Previous Hospital experience into Cancer services.
