  • This Technical Manager role is a newly created role and is ideal for an individual who wants to progress their career in an environment with progression opportunities. The role was created in a company restructuring with plans to expand from 730 to 1000 own brand products over the next two to three years.
  • Excellent Flexible working - 2 days a week in the office and the rest from home also offer flexible hours. Travel to suppliers (UK & Europe) required as part of the role.

The role:

  • As Technical Manager you will look after the own brand ranges across fresh and frozen products.
  • The Technical Manager will be responsible for supporting the process and quality controller to maintain and develop effective procedures for quality assurance, ensuring that all brand quality, food and product safety stage gates are met.
  • As the Technical manager you will maintain and develop strong supplier relationships, making sure that all supplier visits are conducted in line with the associated risk. You will also utilize strong relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders maximizing understanding and collaboration.
  • Working in an efficient and effective manner, the technical manager will ensure that new suppliers are approved on a timely basis.
  • The Technical manager will be responsible for successful supplier management, conducting supplier visits in the UK and Europe, performing product audits, managing compliance, and representing the company in industry meetings.
  • The technical manager will stay updated with any legislative changes to food and drink packaging and keep them and communicate these to the wider brand team.
  • As technical manager you will be responsible for ensuring ethical trading & sourcing on SEDEX mitigating any risks throughout the supply chain.
  • As a member of the crisis management team, the technical manager will be responsible for sign off and conduction of product recalls and withdrawals, as well as identifying any 'emerging risks’ actioning protocols to mitigate them.
  • The technical manager will ensure all NPD and EPD meet all quality and safety requirements, working alongside product managers.

Ideal candidate:

  • This Technical Manager role is ideal for an individual with 3-5 years’ experience in a technical environment and some exposure to food retail.
  • It is essential to be able to demonstrate strong relationship management skills.
  • In addition, you will have experience with supplier audits, and specifications (ideally retailer specifications and audits).
  • Working as part of a team you must have excellent relationship building skills, you will be able to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • As Technical Manager you will be willing to travel to suppliers (UK and Europe based) when necessary.
  • You will ideally have a fresh and frozen food experience (food experience in general is a must.) with hands-on experience of food production methods and processes.
  • You will have experience of auditing suppliers against safety standards, be familiar with GFSI audit standards and be knowledgeable about managing the impact of food legislation on products.
