About the company:
My client have been established as a housebuilder for over 60 years and currently have regional office bases throughout the UK. They are recognised as the highest quality major national housebuilder, having been awarded an exclusive ‘5 Star Housebuilder Award’ by the Homebuilders Federation. Projects to date range vastly in terms of specification and construction technique dependant on the location of the regional office. Major projects include multi-unit RC frame structures in Central London as well as town and village regeneration and low rise traditional build housing.
About the opportunity:
- Reporting to the Commercial Director
- Manage procurement costs for the division.
- Ensure compliance with group purchasing arrangements.
- Collect rebates and manage material budgets.
- Ensure competitive procurement of materials and plant based on project specifications.
- Administer and monitor material rebate claims.
- Monitor supplier performance.
- Prepare contract material budgets and track progress.
- Issue tender enquiries and analyse quotations.
- Prepare material take-off from contract drawings.
- Develop material schedules on Excel for supplier and site use.
- Generate and issue purchase orders.
- Implement waste management systems on sites through order issuance.
- Compile and submit statistical analysis as required.
About the benefits and rewards:
The salary will be dependent on the level of exposure to the residential industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary in the region of up to £45k DOE. In addition to the basic salary there will be further company benefits.
About the requirements:
- Previous experience in a Buying role with a developer, ideally with knowledge of COINS, take-offs, schedules, and budgets.
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (grade A-C/4+ or equivalent).
- Strong communication, listening, and attention to detail skills.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new systems.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines under pressure and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
