Technical Lead (Ruby on Rails Developer)

We are working with a fast-growing software business in Watford who currently work with household name clients across the private and public sectors, delivering them crucial, real-time insight derived from raw data.
Their innovative web applications, built with Ruby on Rails within AWS architecture and using MongoDB, are already award-winning but continues to be invested in and improved. They have a number of greenfield projects in the roadmap.
My client, are therefore looking for a Senior or Lead Ruby Software Engineer to help strategise, design and deliver the future roadmap, with full autonomy on how that looks.
The role is 75% hands on (Coding and Architecture), so would suit a Lead Ruby Developer who is still passionate about programming but also, wants a role with more responsibility and autonomy. There is currently one report - an embedded Software Developer - but you’ll have chance to grow your team in the future, with a QA Tester earmarked as the next hire.
Working closely with the CTO, and alongside the wider stakeholders, you’ll take overall responsibility for the technical direction and delivery of a highly automated, reliable and scalable platform which their customers will love.
The role would suit a Developer with extensive knowledge across Ruby on Rails, who understands the startup mentality and is excited about delivering product, quickly. Ideally you’ll have experience working on data-driven platforms, using real-time data and have the drive and ambition to one day step up to CTO or Technical Director level.
