Location: Watford (WD25 8FA)
Salary: £33,000 - £50,000 (Depending on Experience)
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday - Friday with alternate Saturdays from 7am-1pm

A full-time position is available for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager at a busy branch located in Watford. This role involves supporting the Branch Manager in the daily running of operations, driving performance, and ensuring the team delivers high standards of service and safety.
Applicants must have previous experience within the builders’ merchant industry, as this knowledge is essential to the role.
Key Responsibilities:

Support day-to-day branch operations, ensuring processes run efficiently

Oversee health and safety compliance to maintain a safe environment for staff and customers

Promote a high standard of customer service across all touchpoints

Lead and support team development through ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management

Manage stock control and inventory levels accurately

Oversee warehouse and store operations to ensure effective flow and organisation

Create and maintain rotas to ensure appropriate staff coverage at all times

Contribute to planning and implementing strategies for business growth and improved profitability

Foster a team-oriented and positive working environment
Candidate Requirements:

Prior management or supervisory experience, with proven people leadership skills

Strong understanding of branch operations, preferably within the building materials sector

Experience in the builders’ merchant industry is essential
