We are currently recruiting for an Managing Estimator in the Watford area.

Summary of Role:

Reports to the Regional Chief Estimator and is responsible for managing Estimators / Senior Estimators / Regional Estimators in producing analytical cost estimates that reflect the programme, methodology and risk profile developed by the bid team on large scale and complex projects.
Identify the need for support and call upon it when required to produce estimates
A thorough understanding of the UK construction market and familiarity with the main forms of Contract used and the significance of these contracts in terms of the risks that need to be addressed in the tender.
Provide guidance and mentor estimating assistants
Should be an active member of the regional senior management team and should advise regional management of resource levels and capability of support to the business plans.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all estimates are produced in accordance with the estimating department procedures.
  • Benchmarks key productivity and cost drivers by seeking feedback from live projects.
  • Develops knowledge management strategies and systems to support the business units’ strategic vision.
  • Reviews all estimates.
  • Estimate and produce project and corporate documentation
  • Manage and present estimating / tendering information.
  • Lead on knowledge sharing and learning to develop an innovative team philosophy
  • Oversee the identification, management, reduction of unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
  • Help identify the supply chain based on an informed and well developed understanding of the market.
  • Oversee the management of the production of papers for use in tender reviews and adjudications.
  • Manage the production of accurate financial forecasts for use in setting target costs, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintain commercial, technical, legal and insurance knowledge of current market
  • Produce budget pricing in accordance with available information
  • Produce cash flows for tendering purposes when required
  • Lead the tender process on larger or more complex projects as and when required.
