My client, a packaging managing group, is looking to hire a third line infrastructure analyst / specialist. This is a contract role for an initial period of 6 months. This role is being hired as the company takes on new projects and challenges and will be needed to support their IT infrastructure and ensure the continuity of their operations.

This is a contract role outside IR35 and will require candidates to be onsite at the head office site 4 days a week.

Role Overview:In this role, you will be the escalation point for complex technical issues and will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure. This position requires a deep technical understanding of server, network, and storage technologies, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Support: Provide third line support for infrastructure issues, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud platforms.
  • Incident Resolution: Act as the final escalation point for complex technical problems, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance of servers, networks, and other critical infrastructure components.
  • Monitoring: Monitor the performance of infrastructure systems and address potential issues proactively.
  • Project Involvement: Contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of infrastructure-related projects.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with first and second line support teams to provide seamless support and knowledge transfer.
  • Security: Assist in implementing and maintaining security protocols and participating in security audits.
  • Optimization: Identify opportunities for infrastructure optimization and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in a third line infrastructure support role will be essential.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments, networking (LAN/WAN), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues quickly.
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, or equivalent.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical issues clearly.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell scripting.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and frameworks.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
