Aspire are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with non-verbal children and those with sensory processing needs in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with Autism,ASD, SEMH, SLD, and PMLD, ensuring they can access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
* Assist in developing and delivering structured learning interventions, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, and sensory integration.
* Utilise PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and sensory strategies to support non-verbal children.
* Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, therapists, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to education and care.
* Support students with self-regulation and emotional well-being, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
* Facilitate a structured and predictable learning environment, minimising triggers and maximising engagement.
* Assist with daily routines, personal care, and mobility support where necessary for children with complex physical and sensory needs.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to multi-agency review meetings.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Strong experience working with children with ASD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD, and sensory processing needs in a primary school setting.
* Knowledge of autism-specific strategies, including TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, and sensory integration techniques.
* Proven ability to support children with complex emotional and behavioural needs using positive behaviour management strategies.
* A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to SEN support.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents effectively.
Desirable:
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or working towards Level 3).
* Training in Team Teach, MAPA (Managing Actual or Potential Aggression), or de-escalation techniques.
* Experience supporting children with non-verbal communication needs using AAC devices and assistive technology.
* Background in speech and language support, occupational therapy techniques, or sensory-based interventions.
