We are currently looking for an experienced SEND teacher who has secure knowledge of supporting young people with SLD to join a specialist provision in Bexley from September.

The Role

In this role you will the Teacher for a class of 6 – 8 children with severe learning difficulties working at early developmental levels of learning. You will plan and lead a range of learning and development activities appropriate to the needs of the children in your class. Where appropriate, children will have the opportunity to access activities in the main primary school including forest school, assemblies and school events. You will have support from trained SEND teaching assistants, therapists, leadership teams and outside agencies based within the borough. You will have regular contact with parents and be actively involved in assessments and EHCP reviews.

The school are ideally looking for a qualified teacher who has previous experience of working with students with SLD, autism, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge. You should be able to demonstrate high levels of emotional resilience and a calm, positive approach when dealing with behaviour.

This role is offered on a full-time contract basis initially with the opportunity for the role to become a permanent position for the right Teacher.

The School

These two specialist resource provisions are for children with a Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who have a primary need of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) or Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The two provisions are based within a 1-form-entry primary school site in Bexley and offer up to 70 children a caring and specialised learning environment where all children are supported to access learning and development activities. There are four classes within each provision who all benefit from their own outdoor learning area. There is a range of additional spaces including Sensory and Therapy rooms and a separate dining area. Staff working within the provisions have access to regular professional development training.

Based in Bexley, the school has onsite parking with good public transport links via the Elizabeth Line.
