Role Purpose
The ideal candidate will provide efficient and effective administration support for the schools SENco and SEN team. They will ensure that the schools EHCP review process is professional and well administered for the stakeholders involved. They will hold responsibility for the administration of interventions across the school including speech and language care plans. They will track the progress of interventions and act as the link between SENCo and support staff.
Working with staff
?To support the SENCo in ensuring each member of staff has access to, understands and can apply consistently, the schools SEN procedures and strategies
?Liaise with teaching staff to support monitoring activities for children with SEND
?Work with the SENCo to identify children in need of additional support and to develop individual support plans
?Participate in vulnerable pupil meetings, as required
?Support staff across the school in delivering interventions by providing resources, support and monitoring.
?To work closely with the speech and language therapist, occupational therapist and other professionals
Working with children
?To work with intervention groups to model interventions to other staff
?To support children with SEND needs for movement breaks or short interventions
?To work with children to collect pupil voice for annual reviews
?Support children regulate their behaviour
?Ad-hoc cover duties for 1:1 and group work support
Experience
?Experience working in a primary school environment (classroom experience desirable)
?Experience working with children / young people with additional needs (e.g. SEND, behavioural, mental health)
?Experience supporting and working with parents of young people with additional needs
Skills and knowledge
?Good listening skills
?Effective written and verbal communication skills
?Knowledge of the barriers to learning that children may face
?Tailoring plans and interventions to individual children
?Able to create good relationships with children, staff, parents and external agencies
?Knowledge of the SEND Code of practice
?Safeguarding of children and young people
