An independent Special Needs school in Bexley are seeking a patient and experienced SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 support for a student with special educational needs.

THE ROLE

As an SEN Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver personalised lessons following a Foundation Learning Curriculum, which is tailored to the student’s needs.
  • Teaching a range of core subjects such as English, maths, and ICT, alongside Vocational Learning and Personal and Social Development.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the student’s individual needs and abilities.
  • Provide a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Build routines, relationships, respect, and trust to achieve successful teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

The school are looking for an SEN Tutor who:

  • Has experience working with students with Special Educational Needs
  • Is skilled in adapting teaching approaches to meet different learning needs.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Has good written and verbal English

The School

This Independent Special Needs School, located in Welling, Bexley, provides a nurturing and supportive environment for up to 40 young people aged 7 to 19. The school caters to students with special educational needs who have struggled in mainstream education and hold Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Students benefit from a variety of learning spaces, including a fully equipped kitchen, a drama and music studio, and access to local sports and recreational facilities, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

There is a dedicated staff team based within the school who work collaboratively to support all students to reach their potential. Regular CPD training is provided for all staff.
