Company Overview: We are a leading company in the automotive and motorsport sectors, dedicated to developing innovative solutions for powertrain systems. Our Mechanical Design team is expanding, and we are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to our mission of delivering high-performance products.

 

Role Overview: As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within our Powertrain department, you will play a crucial role in producing and documenting design evidence, creating work instructions, and conducting functional and installation checks on prototypes. Your expertise will guide the development of reliable, cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and document design evidence for powertrain components and systems.
  • Create comprehensive work instructions for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Conduct functional and installation checks on prototypes, ensuring they meet performance specifications.
  • Develop customer documentation for safe usage and maintenance of products.
  • Release designs for manufacturing, collaborating closely with production teams.
  • Present design concepts and updates to stakeholders, effectively communicating technical details.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in designs.
  • Create engineering guides and standards to support design development.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the engineering of automotive or motorsport systems/components, ideally within an OEM, tier 1 supplier, engineering consultancy, or motorsport team.
  • Demonstrated experience in the mechanical design of high-voltage battery assemblies.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in high-level CAD packages, particularly Catia or NX.
  • Experienced in producing engineering documents, CAD models, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) process.
  • Skilled in structured problem-solving approaches and analytical tools, including 8D and Ishikawa.
  • Ability to identify and apply relevant regulatory requirements and standards in design processes.
