Excell Supply we are recruiting for a specialist school in Welshpool dedicated to supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role

We are seeking a passionate and adaptableMathematics Teacher to work 3 days a weekwho can also deliver a small amount of Science teaching. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in working with students with SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in Maths across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach a small proportion of Science lessons as part of a balanced curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation and progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop individual education plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including pastoral care and extracurricular activities.

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and the ability to teach Science to a basic level.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in an SEMH or special education setting.
  • Additional training in behavior management or trauma-informed practice.
  • Knowledge of restorative approaches and strategies to support mental health.
