Flexible People are currently looking for a Stock & Materials Buyer based in the Welwyn Garden City for one of our prestigious clients.
Job Summary:The Stock & Materials Buyer is responsible for monitoring supplier levels, ordering stock to meet depot needs, planning stock movements, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials. This role requires daily interaction with depots, suppliers, and the use of planning tools such as Relex to optimize order quantities. The goal is to maintain an On-Time In-Full (OTIF) rate of at least 95% and reduce unused stock levels.
This position is for a Monday to Friday role. The hours are 0830am-1700pm.
The rate of pay is 14.81ph including holiday.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Level Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor and assess supplier stock levels to ensure availability and prevent shortages.
Ordering Stock:
- Order stock daily for all depots based on current and forecasted needs.
- Utilize Relex for planning and placing order quantities.
Planning Stock Movements:
- Plan and coordinate stock movements between depots according to requirements and priorities.
Purchase Orders:
- Place purchase orders with suppliers.
- Raise direct orders for specific depot needs.
Delivery Coordination:
- Confirm delivery dates with suppliers.
- Contact depots to book delivery times and dates, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Stock Level Management:
- Actively work to reduce unused stock levels.
- Optimize inventory to balance availability with cost efficiency.
Performance Management:
- Manage daily OTIF performance, aiming to maintain a minimum rate of 95%.
- Track and report on OTIF performance, identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a procurement, supply chain, or stock management role.
- Proficiency with inventory management software, particularly Relex.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
