SALARY- 35,000 to 45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading company in Defence and Aerospace based in Welwyn Garden City. This role involves designing high-precision mechanical components and assemblies, working closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to develop innovative solutions for critical applications.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in mechanical design within the Defence, Aerospace, or Precision Engineering sectors
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Knowledge of materials, machining, and fabrication processes
- Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
- Experience producing detailed technical drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for Defence and Aerospace applications
- Producing 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation
- Conducting design reviews, modifications, and optimisation for performance and manufacturability
- Collaborating with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure feasibility
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications
- Managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and technical requirements
