We are helping a food manufacturer recruit for an NPD Assistant in the Hertfordshire area. This company prides itself of creating products with responsibly sourced ingredients, which create a range of ambient products.

This role gives you the opportunity to be involved in the creation, developing, factory trials and specifications. Therefore, giving you exposure to different aspects of the NPD process. They are currently looking for somebody with previous experience in a NPD position, with a willingness to learn and progress.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, trends, and market gaps for competitive advantage
  • Develop and reformulate recipes to create financially and technically viable products that meet customer expectations
  • Prepare samples by following detailed recipes and ensure accuracy
  • Perform new product costings, including ingredient cost analysis
  • Source ingredients from suppliers, ensuring high quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with technical requirements
  • Conduct kitchen and factory trials to test product feasibility and resolve pre-launch issues
  • Arrange microbiological and nutritional testing to ensure product safety, compliance, and claims validation
  • Coordinate product transfer from NPD to production, including training, assembly, and post-launch support
  • Stay informed on food safety legislation and industry guidelines, advising relevant teams on required changes
  • Work under tight deadlines to meet specific development objectives
